3 Sounds That Say You Need Heater Repairs

We know that the daily weather around Waco hasn’t inspired many of us to think of our heaters. Sometimes the chilly temperatures at night have brought residents to reach out to switch their thermostat from cooling to heating.

The problem here that you might run into is that your heater may not be able to do the job you need it to do. If you’ve tested out your heater recently and discovered that is doesn’t seem up to the task, it is likely time for you to schedule heating repair in Waco, TX.

If your heater is malfunctioning, the last thing you want to do is ignore the issue. This simply increases the chances that you’ll end up without any heating power during the cold weather.

One way to identify whether or not your heater needs professional repairs is to listen to the system. This may sound like an odd idea but it can actually be super helpful. Strange sounds can be a key indicator as to what is going wrong with your system.

3 Sounds Your Heater Shouldn’t Make

Call our team when you pick up on any of these noises:

  1. Screeching or scraping: Clanking, screeching, screaming, or scraping are all going to be noises created when metal hits against metal. This is usually going to be created by a fan blade that is coming loose and scraping around its housing.
  2. Rattling: A rattling noise is often easy to identify–it means something is loose inside of your heater. Loose parts should be tightened as soon as they are found. The alternative cause of this sound may be a cracked heat exchanger that is vibrating while it is in use.
  3. Booming or banging: Do you turn on your heater and hear a deep booming or a banging? It may remind you of the sound of a small explosion–because that is essentially what you are hearing. Dirty build-up on your burners can delay the ignition process. This creates an excess of gas in your system which will all ignite at once when the burners are able to spark, creating that booming noise. This can be seriously damaging to your furnace!

These aren’t going to be the only concerning sounds that your heating system might make. But they are a great place to start. At the end of the day, if you hear your heater making any concerning noises, whether it is hissing or banging, you should reach out to a professional technician for assistance. That’s where we come in!
